January Horoscopes
The planets move in cycles and patterns that don’t always perfectly align with our made up temporal systems…and sometimes they do! The start of 2024 is one of those special moments when the planets play well with the Gregorian calendar. Mercury ends its retrograde cycle on New Years Day, just a couple days after Jupiter ended its months long retrograde on 12/30. The promise that momentum is returning hangs in the air, like the last piece of confetti floating down at the New Years Eve party. Jupiter holds the big picture while Mercury finesses the details so having these two planets stationing direct around the same time is a powerful moment for setting intentions that will actually have some wind behind them. Once Mars moves into Capricorn on January 4th, the plan to materialize your goals will start to feel doable. Mars loves being in Capricorn where action meets strategy - having the perfectly packed backpack for an adventure with all the right tools and sustenance needed to scale the mountain.
Another excellent moment for setting an intention comes on January 11th with the new moon at 20 degrees Capricorn. Mars the go-getter and Jupiter the visionary are high giving each other a high five and the Sun and Moon get an encouraging boost from wildcard Uranus to dream big. I love this moment as an opportunity to capture your Vision - where do you want to be a year or two from now? It’s a particularly potent new moon to work with and I invite you all to join me for a Capricorn Astro-ritual class happening on the 11th at 7pm pacific time.
If this decade was a movie, 2023 was a teaser and 2024 is the longer trailer for what the rest of the 2020s have in store. One of the main events happens right away on January 20th when Pluto, the planet of Power and deep secrets, moves into Aquarius where it will be for most of 2024 and also the next 20 years. Pluto, named after the lord of the underworld, likes underground caves and dark, hidden places where it can operate in secret. However, on the same day that Pluto moves into Aquarius, so does our giant, bright source of light - the Sun. It’s like the moment you turn on a light in a room you didn’t know was infested and creatures scatter out of sight to find a new dark, corner to hide in. On this day take note of who was exposed by the light and is still trying to hide?
